Origin Family-Centred Maternity Hospital is the first hospital in South Africa to specialise in a maternity care model where midwives and obstetricians work hand in hand. We care for and pamper low-risk women and their families throughout their pregnancies and during the birth of their babies, supporting them as they embark on the journey of parenthood. We also offer various Women’s Wellness services.
At Origin Family-Centred Maternity Hospital every birth is regarded as sacred, combining comfort and safety with medical expertise and personalised individual care.
At Origin Family-Centred Maternity Hospital the comfortable family-focused environment helps to facilitate privacy, relaxation and peace of mind during the most important event of your family’s life: the birth of your baby. Every birth at our hospital is regarded as a sacred experience. We regard childbirth as a state of wellness, not an illness – a normal life event involving dynamic emotional, social and physical change.
We empower and assist women with low-risk pregnancies to have the births they choose, without unnecessary interventions. The unique needs and requests of each family are taken into account. Our highly experienced midwives work hand in hand with Origin-affiliated obstetricians, and our state-of-the-art theatre complex is available if required.
If you choose to birth in our Birthing Suites (labour, delivery, postnatal and recovery (LDPR) rooms), you will birth and receive postnatal care there, and your partner is welcome to stay over with you. Each of our six Birthing Suites features a birthing bath, as mobility and relaxation assist in facilitating birth.
Origin is the only maternity hospital in Africa with a wireless cardiotocograph which can monitor the baby’s heart in correlation with contractions, if needed, while a woman is mobile during labour, or even in the birth bath. We also offer women’s wellness services as well as comprehensive antenatal and postnatal care.
Accredited doulas are welcome, and we support vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC)
