Medical Aids

Origin Family-Centred Maternity Hospital is a member of the National Hospital Network (NHN), and thus a designated service provider to most medical aids. This means that we charge 100% medical aid rates. As is the case with all hospitals, our rates EXCLUDE the consultation costs for midwives, obstetricians, or other service providers.

  • Important: Please note, we cannot be held responsible for any items that your medical aid rejects. Co-payments must be paid on admission.

  • Every effort is made to motivate to your medical aid for settlement of your account. Please note that you are ultimately responsible to ensure that your medical aid settles within 30 days after discharge.

  • In terms of your stay at Origin, the Private Birth Suites cost R4500, which includes your partner staying over for the first night as well as three meals for your partner. Medical aids do not cover this cost. This sum is payable before admission, at 36 weeks of pregnancy.

  • GEMS: According to GEMS' ruling you will be required to pay a R10 000 co-payment if you choose to have an elective caesarean section (i.e. for non medical reason).

  • Discovery: We have been a preferred service provider for all Discovery medical aid plans since 1 February 2018 - except Keycare.
